Position: FT - Controller ($80K - $100K)

Essential Functions

  • Full responsibility for managing cash flow for the Agency, including proper recording in the GL.
  • Supervise and train the general accounting staff, including the senior accountant, accountant, and accounts payable specialist
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and safeguards for financial transactions, including revenue and program expenditures
  • Oversee the credit card program for the Agency, including recording transactions in the GL and reviewing all charges for appropriateness
  • Oversee the monthly close process, including reporting to internal employees as well as to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors
  • Lead and oversee all external financial audits and 990 filing for timely and accurate publication
  • Manage the analysis of accounts receivable and reserves
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be very detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounting groups
  • Advanced experience with Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to multitask

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA and/or public accounting experience
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting
  • Experience using Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Financial Edge NXT

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
  • Reach with hands and arms and sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk, working on a computer
