Position: Life Skills Counselor - FT - ($26hr to $28hr)

Essential Functions of the Life Skills Counselor:
- Facilitate 748 hours (17 hours a week x 44 weeks) of 1:1 instruction with their assigned caseload working on youth established goals in the Transition plan at the level of service determined by the Service level needs assessment.
- Ensure the timely & accurate completion of all required paperwork (includes documentation requirements) per the AAI Paperwork Guidelines document and the approved program description.
- Ensure timely updates to all members of the client's team per the guidelines listed in the approved program description.
- Represent Valley Youth House in a professional manner at all Court hearings, professional meetings and public events.
Minimal Qualifications for the Life Skills Counselor:
- An associate's degree or equivalent of 60-90 college credits in Social Work or related field. If the degree is in an unrelated field then the candidate must have at least 1 year of experience in the social services field.
- One or more years experience working with youth and young adults or providing case management services.
- A valid driver's license, a motor vehicle report that meets agency requirements and reliable transportation that can safely transport clients if needed.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule that includes evenings.
Ability to complete the pre-employment physical and drug test requirements
Preferred Qualifications of the Life Skills Counselor
- Two years+ of experience working with adolescents.
- Knowledge of the Child Welfare system, York County resources and service providers.
- An understanding of the barriers and challenges that youth involved in the Child Welfare system face including reasons for truancy, lack of self esteem, parent child conflict, etc.
