Education Specialist

We are currently looking for a qualified applicant to fill the following position: FT - Education Specialist - ($20hr- $22hr)


Job Description: The Education Specialist is responsible for oversight and management of all academic assessment, instruction & case management related activities.  This includes responsibility for individual and group educational instruction; assisting with enrolling youth in the appropriate education program at Bethlehem Area School District (BASD) when needed; other liaison related contacts and record-keeping as related to assigned tasks. Associated duties include implementing goal plans with youth, tracking their accomplishments, and assisting in maintaining all documents in the client record. The Education Specialist is under the authority of the Sr. Vice President, the Director, the Associate Director and reports directly to the Program Supervisor.

Essential Functions:
  1. To successfully implement daily educational activities and curriculum during the school year.  In the summer months implement a hybrid schedule of educational and recreational activities. 
  2. Be the primary point of contact for school personnel related to attendance, enrollment, IEP meetings, and county BID meetings. 
  3. Ensure up-to-date paper & electronic client records in compliance with program, county, state and federal regulations and private grant requirements, as applicable. 
  4. Attend both external & internal agency trainings & workshops; complete and pass all required training hours and annual training as set forth in the funder and licensing regulations.
Key Functions:
  1. Represent the program and agency in a professional manner and maintain positive community relationships in a proactive manner.
  2. Clear and effective communication with the case manager, supervisor, and parent/guardians as required during shifts.
  3. Participation in on-call rotations as required by program area.
  4. Address and report any crisis or critical incident as defined by agency and/or county, state or federal regulations according to the agency's formalized practice and protocols.
Other Duties:
  1. Understand and adhere to Valley Youth House policies, practices and procedures.
  2. To participate in weekly scheduled supervision with direct supervisor and be prepared with an agenda.
  3. To attend and actively participate in team meetings.
  4. Build genuine relationships that support families, ensure safe places, and help youth achieve their desired futures.
  5. Timely and accurate completion of personnel materials (i.e. time sheets, mileage reimbursement, etc.)
  6. To complete other related tasks as appropriate or assigned.

Qualifications: An Education Specialist/ Group Facilitator shall be a mature person with sound judgment and serve as an appropriate role model to youth and families. They must be someone who has never been convicted of any child abuse offenses. The individual must possess at least a bachelor's degree in a human service discipline, and must never have been convicted of any child abuse offenses.
