Position: Summer Camp Nurse (Seasonal) (June - August) $11,000-$12,000

Essential Functions of the Summer Camp Nurse:
- Health Care and Emergency Response: Administer first aid, CPR, and emergency medical care to campers and staff in the event of accidents, injuries, or sudden illnesses. Assess and treat common camp-related ailments such as cuts, bruises, insect stings, heat-related issues, and minor illnesses. Be available for immediate response to any medical emergencies on campgrounds, ensuring prompt and appropriate care. Spend the night on-site during overnight camps to provide 24-hour medical care as needed.
- Medication Management: Manage the storage and administration of all camper and staff medications, ensuring accurate dosage and timing. Maintain proper documentation of all administered medications and treatments. Communicate with parents/guardians as needed regarding camper health conditions and medication instructions.
- Health Screening and Monitoring: Conduct health screenings for campers and staff upon arrival, reviewing health histories, medications, and any special medical needs. Monitor campers and staff daily for signs of illness or injury, providing care and making referrals when necessary. Ensure compliance with state and camp health regulations, including managing the health center and maintaining a clean, safe environment for care.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all campers and staff, including medical logs, incident reports, and medication administration forms. Report any serious health incidents or concerns to the Camp Director and, when necessary, to parents/guardians or health authorities. Prepare and file any necessary health and safety reports in compliance with camp policies and state regulations.
Minimal Qualifications for the Summer Camp Nurse:
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience working with children and young adults in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to stay overnight at camp during overnight sessions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a camp nurse or in a similar role in an outdoor or school setting.
- Knowledge of common camp-related injuries, illnesses, and prevention measures.
Physical Requirements for the Summer Camp Nurse
- Capacity to work long hours in various weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain, while maintaining energy and enthusiasm. X Constant

- Walking, hiking, and movement across the camp's 43-acre property, which includes uneven terrain, wooded areas, and hills, multiple times a day. X Constant

- Ability to lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds, which may include supplies, equipment, or assisting with setting up activities. X Occasionally
